The key point is that instead of trying to ‘touchify’ a desktop OS, expanding up the phone OS makes much more sense – similar hardware, similar architecture, similar use cases, as I said back in 2012. But Microsoft has long put WAY too much importance on full-blown Windows as the solution to all problems, and on itself as being the one true innovator. Windows 9 looks to be cementing this.
