If you’ve ever used any apps on Facebook, keep in mind that even though they run within the website, they each have their own policies and practices on what they do with your, and your friends’ information. What information? You might be surprised what they can grab – it’s long past an issue of gathering information in aggregate.

Facebook requires apps to ask permission before accessing a user’s personal details. However, a user’s friends aren’t notified if information about them is used by a friend’s app. An examination of the apps’ activities also suggests that Facebook occasionally isn’t enforcing its own rules on data privacy.”
